THE POLICE TO TAKE PART IN GLOBAL WARMING CONCERTS

According to foxnews.com, THE POLICE will headline a Live Aid-style show on July 7th that's tied into former Vice President Al Gore's campaign to educate people about global warming. The first choice for the show is that it take place on The National Mall in Washington, D.C., but if that doesn't work out, organizers are said to be looking at Shea Stadium in New York City, which THE POLICE sold out in 1983, drawing a record crowd of 70,000 fans to the baseball park. Shea Stadium is available that day, as the New York Mets will be playing the second of a three-game series in Houston on July 7th.

There's been no word from THE POLICE yet about their possible involvement.

It's supposed to be one of a series dubbed 07-07-07, which will include seven concerts in seven cities on seven continents, according to the report.

WILL THERE BE CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL REUNION?

Bruce Simon has issued the following report:

We've already got the Police and Van Halen doing reunion tours this year, but will that list also include Creedence Clearwater Revival? Singer-guitarist John Fogerty is confirmed for the Glastonbury festival in England on June 23rd, and Britain's Uncut magazine says it could be a CCR show with bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug "Cosmo" Clifford. The idea stems from Glastonbury organizer Michael Eavis, who said last year that the 2007 lineup would include an act that "officially gave up touring in 1972, a band that were once the biggest band in the world. A band that no one would expect."

After racking up 13 Top 10 singles and five Top 10 albums between 1968 and 1971, Creedence broke up in late 1972. Since then, Fogerty has battled his former bandmates in the press over their contributions to Creedence's music, and he took them to court in an unsuccessful attempt to keep them from working as Creedence Clearwater Revisited. He also refused to perform with them with they were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1994.

Last year, Fogerty told us that he still had no interest in working with his former bandmates, though he had softened a little bit in his feelings about their time together: "I think the most you'll see from me is probably speaking of good times from Creedence days in perhaps a more cherished manner, because there certainly were good times leading up to the great success that we had."

Neither Fogerty nor his label have commented on the Uncut report. A representative for Clifford and Cook was unavailable for comment, though it should be noted that they're booked to play in Regina, Saskatchewan, on June 23rd, the same day the Glastonbury appearance is supposed to happen.

The fourth member of Creedence Clearwater Revival was John's brother Tom Fogerty. He died in 1990.

AEROSMITH POSTPONED NEW ALBUM RECORDING

It's looking like AEROSMITH won't have a new album out by mid-year. That was the plan, after they couldn't get a record finished in time for their Route Of All Evil tour with Motley Crue last year. But in a new message at aeroforceone.com, bassist Tom Hamilton wrote, "We've got a busy year coming up. After the European tour... we take a short break and then go back into the studio." Aerosmith currently has European shows lined up through the end of June, as well as a date in Sarnia, Ontario, on July 19th, so a release before the fall seems highly unlikely.

On a positive note, Hamilton said the band is psyched to lay down some new tunes. He wrote, "We haven't done a new album in a while, and we really feel enthusiastic about showing everybody what's on our musical mind."

Hamilton also took time to thank Aerosmith fans who helped him deal with the aftermath of his throat cancer treatments, which kept him off the road last year. Hamilton said, "I need to acknowledge some of the hardest of hard-core Aerosmith fans who went way above the call. A few months ago, when I was still feeling kind of wiped out, they made me a really cool get-well gift. It's a huge scrapbook where every page is a handmade tribute to the band. Specifically, each page is a get-well wish done for me to the nth degree. The pages are full of photos and handmade graphics that must have taken each person hours upon hours to finish. I think that's the most moving part, thinking of how much time and effort was put into making it. I really appreciate it, and it was a nice thing to receive just as the long gray winter was beginning."

He added, "I want everyone who participated to know that I was blown away when I opened the package and looked at it. Every page is a really nice piece of artwork, and maybe someday there will be a way to display it so others can see it."

Hamilton was declared cancer-free in November.

Before they head to Europe, Aerosmith will tour South America in April with Velvet Revolver, and Hamilton wrote, "It feels really good to be up and running and looking forward to going on the road. It's still very weird to think about missing a whole last tour. It was a strange experience. Many times, I felt like I needed to be out there with the unit, pulling my weight, but now I can savor what we're about to do."
