PAUL MCCARTNEY "TECHNOLOGY HAS FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH THE BEATLES

Paul McCartney says that part of the success behind The Beatles LOVE soundtrack, which is at Number Eight on this week's album charts, is that technology has finally caught up with the group. McCartney credits producer George Martin and son Giles with restoring the group's master tapes before remixing them for the hit Las Vegas show.

McCartney says that apart from the intricate remixing done by the duo, the tapes finally sound pretty close to how they did back in the 1960s at Abbey Road studios: "I always say that one of the great things about technology is that when we recorded them, there wasn't like a hiss in the room, there wasn't a hum in the room. That was the equipment we recorded onto, (which) was technically substandard to what we've got today. So in actual fact by cleaning it up, you're getting more (of) what was actually what was in the room. You're getting the guitar sound without a hiss, or without a hum. So that's great."

Among the Beatles classics that were remixed and restructured for LOVE are "Drive My Car," "The Word," "Here Comes The Sun," "Octopus's Garden," "Because," "Within You, Without You," "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Something," "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," "Lady Madonna," "All You Need Is Love," "Good Night," "Tomorrow Never Knows," "Get Back," and many more.

The Beatles LOVE stage production is now running in Las Vegas at The Mirage.

ALICE COOPER CHARITY SHOW LINEUP

Launch Radio Networks reports that Alice Cooper 's sixth annual charity concert takes place this Saturday (December 16) in Phoenix, to benefit Cooper 's Solid Rock Foundation , which helps young people deal with situations including gangs, drugs, and guns. The show, called the Christmas Pudding concert, will feature Cooper performing with members of the original ALICE COOPER band, Stephen Stills , former EAGLES guitarist Don Felder , and STYX singer-guitarist Tommy Shaw and NIGHT RANGER singer-bassist Jack Blades with their SHAW BLADES project. Also appearing will be "American Idol" contestant Ace Young with his band.

As far as the eclectic mix of performers, Cooper says it's deliberate: "Every year I try to get different people," he said. "This year, (it's) Stephen Stills , who's never been there before. I've got the original band, ALICE COOPER original band — minus (guitarist) Glen ( Buxton ), of course, even though he'll probably be there; Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw ; guys from TESLA ; Jonathan Cain from JOURNEY ; Roger Clyne & the PEACEMAKERS , great band; and F5 , which is a little piece of MEGADETH' s band. It'll be a five-hour show, at least. We always want it to be three-and-a-half, it always ends up being five."
