TOOL READY TO "BIG DAY OUT"

Launch Radio Networks has issued the following report from Don Kaye:

TOOL just finished up this year's touring schedule with a two-month run through Europe, and the band's first stops in 2007 are Australia and New Zealand. The quartet is headlining the annual Big Day Out festival down under, and Tool drummer Danny Carey told us he's really looking forward to it:

"I just love touring down in Australia, it's one of my favorite places. The people are always just so friendly and nice, and really into rock 'n'roll too. The weather's always beautiful down there and the country's nice also, and it's one of the places that we haven't been as much as a lot of other territories, so there's always things to explore, too. I love going down there and I'm really looking forward to doing the Big Day Out."

Big Day Out begins on January 19th in Auckland, New Zealand and will also feature MUSE, JET, THE KILLERS, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE and others.

Following that, Tool will launch another North American jaunt in mid-March.

Tool is nominated for two Grammy Awards this year. The band is up for "Best Hard Rock Performance" for it's song 'Vicarious', while guitarist Adam Jones is nominated for "Best Recording Package", thanks to his work as art director for the band's latest album, 10,000 Days.

10,000 Days has sold more than 1.3 million copies since its release last May. The CD's current single is 'The Pot'.

RY COODER TO RELEASE NEW STUDIO ALBUM

The legendary slide guitar, Ry Cooder has set to release new studio album “My Name is Buddy” on March 5 through Nonesuch/ Perro Verde Records.

Detailing the life, rambles, and political education of Buddy Red Cat, Ry Cooder has enlisted help from legendary friends and musicians such as banjo master Mike Seeger, his brother Pete, Roland White, Van Dyke Parks, Paddy Maloney, Flaco Jiminez, Stefon Harris, and Joachim Cooder.

The new album features seventeen brand new songs, and each one is accompanied by a story/vignette written by Cooder and also a drawing by noted artist Vincent Valdez.

Buddy Red Cat's eyes, according to Cooder, “are opened to a roiling world of trouble, a place of unnecessary pain and undeserved suffering, but a site as well of remarkable resilience and resistance. His journey affords him the opportunity to find out what kind of a cat he really is, and what kind of cat he wants to become."

“My Name is Buddy” is the follow-up to Ry Cooder's 2005 Grammy-nominated “Chavez Ravine”, a remembrance of a vanished neighbourhood in Los Angeles.
