PAUL McCARTNEY REGRETING NOT TO FINISH THIRD BEATLES REUNION SONG

Howie Edelson from IceBergRadio has reported that

Paul McCartney recently shed some light on one of the unfinished mid-'90s Beatles reunion tracks that was left unreleased.

McCartney spoke to Britain's Q magazine about the unreleased John Lennon song, titled "Now And Then," explaining that, "There was one more that we didn't do (for The Beatles Anthology), which was a pity. It didn't have a very good title, it needed a bit of reworking, but it had a beautiful verse and it had John singing it. But George (Harrison) didn't wanna do it. The best thing about it all was to work with John again. Hearing him in the headphones, it was like he was in the next room -- 'F***, I'm singing harmony with John.'It's like an impossible dream."

We asked Harrison's widow Olivia Harrison how she feels about any unfinished Beatles Anthology reunion songs being released: "Well, I don't know that much about it. But I know that if they thought something wasn't good enough then that's probably the reason no one's heard it. You know, if they never got around to it -- sometimes that's it, time runs out."

The then-surviving Beatles, McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, dubbed "The Threetles" by the British press, spent four sessions between February 1994 and March 1995 attempting to flesh out "Now And Then" along with the eventually released reunion songs "Free As A Bird," and "Real Love." The songs were recorded at McCartney's home studio, The Mill, in Sussex, England with producer and ELO co-founder Jeff Lynne.

The trio eventually abandoned the track, due in large part to a persistent buzz found on the demo tape that couldn't be erased. Lennon's demo for "Now And Then" -- also known as "I Don't Want To Lose You" -- has been available on the underground circuit for years.

In May 1995, the group allegedly started work an all-new McCartney-Harrison collaboration called "All For Love," which also remains unreleased.

In October 2005, Lennon's widow Yoko Ono talked about a further "electronic" Beatles reunion using the unfinished Lennon track. She explained to The Washington Post that, "I sent those songs to them when the situation was quite different. Now that George is gone, I don't know if the same would apply."

The Beatles'reunion single "Free As A Bird" peaked at Number Six in 1995, with the group's second reunion single "Real Love" topping out at Number 11 in 1996.

In other Beatles-related news:

Yoko Ono's former chauffer, Koral Karsan, was freed on bail Friday (December 15th). The Associated Press reported that Karsan was arrested and charged with grand larceny last week after threatening to kill Ono in an ill-fated extortion plot.

Karsan is accused of handing Ono a letter on December 8th, the anniversary of John Lennon's murder, which threatened her life and demanded $2 million in exchange for keeping her and son Sean Lennon's personal secrets under wraps.

LED ZEPPELIN's MEMBERS FILE LAWSUIT TO STOP SALES ON WEBSITE

BBM reports that Members of LED ZEPPELIN are among the musicians who are taking a music memorabilia web site owner to court, claiming he is illegally selling vintage recordings and memorabilia.

The lawsuit was filed in San Francisco in the U.S. District Court, Northern District of California against William Sagan , who operates a web site, WolfgangsVault.com , through which he is allegedly promoting and selling these materials in violation of federal and state laws.

Sagan acquired the memorabilia when he purchased certain assets of the late legendary concert promoter Bill Graham from Clear Channel Entertainment , which acquired Graham 's concert promotion company after his death. Graham 's archives contained millions of promotional items and personal memorabilia, such as vintage concert posters and t-shirts featuring the musical artists' intellectual property — their names, voices, likenesses, photographs, trademarks and copyrights — which were never authorized for sale.

Sagan has continued to expand his allegedly unlawful practices by offering reproductions of these items for sale, including "reprints" of vintage concert posters and a new line of baby clothing featuring the artists' names and protected trademarks. In addition, to increase sales of these materials, Sagan is streaming allegedly illegal recordings of live concerts performed by the artists to the public on his web site and is offering to "license" these recordings to other parties.

The artists — Grateful Dead Productions , Carlos Santana , and the members of LED ZEPPELIN and THE DOORS — are represented by Jeff Reeves and Ashlie Beringer , lawyers with the international law firm Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher .

" Sagan simply doesn't have the legal rights to exploit and profit from the extraordinary success of these musicians," said Jeff Reeves , who represents the musicians. "This memorabilia was created in the first place for the purposes of promoting concerts and as gifts for fans and concert crew. Graham himself did not have the right to sell, reproduce or otherwise exploit these materials as a promoter, and neither does Sagan , who was not authorized to purchase these materials and who has absolutely no connection to the artists or their music."

"We have never given permission for our images and material to be used in this way," said Bob Weir of the GRATEFUL DEAD . "What Sagan is doing is stealing. He is stealing what is most important to us — our work, our images and our music — and is profiting from the good will of our fans."

" Bill Graham was a man of great integrity who cared very deeply about the artists he worked with as a manager and promoter," said Grammy -award winning musician Carlos Santana , one of the artists — along with his namesake band Santana — affected by William Sagan 's activities on WolfgangsVault.com . " Bill was a close friend to me and the SANTANA BAND for many years, and I know that what Sagan is doing would go against everything he believed in. I am fully committed to joining with other artists to protect our work, our rights and our legacy."
