DAVID GILMOUR's NEW SINGLE HIT UK TOP 20

Bruce Simon from Launch Radio Networks has issued the following report :

The limited release over the holidays of live performances by DAVID GILMOUR was indeed special, as it's given him his first-ever chart appearance. The live versions of PINK FLOYD's first single 'Arnold Layne', with DAVID BOWIE and Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright on vocals, entered the UK pop survey at Number 19, and it's the first time that any of Gilmour's solo work has been on the chart. The two versions of 'Arnold Layne' and a solo acoustic performance by Gilmour of the song 'Dark Globe' were released online first, followed by a limited-edition vinyl 10-inch single.

Videos for 'Dark Globe' and the Bowie-led version of 'Arnold Layne' can be found at the official davidgilmour.com website, in the "On An Island" section.

Both 'Arnold Layne' and 'Dark Globe' were written by the late guitarist and Floyd founder Syd Barrett, who was a close friend of Gilmour's growing up.

A concert DVD from last year's tour is expected from Gilmour in the spring, though a firm release date hasn't been announced.
