SCOTT WEILAND'S VELVET REVOLVER IS 'PRETTY FAR' INTO NEW ALBUM

Launch Radio Networks reports: VELVET REVOLVER took the better part of a year to start working on its sophomore album, but now that recording is finally underway, things are really beginning to roll. Launch checked in with lead singer Scott Weiland this week and asked him how far the group has gotten since entering the studio. "Pretty far, actually," he said. "We've been here at the old A&M studios (in Los Angeles) for about two-and-a-half weeks and we've recorded all basic tracks and we've already started guitar overdubs and we've done, I've cut a bunch of vocals on numerous songs. In two-and-a-half weeks."

SAMMY CONSIDERING JAMMING WITH EX-VAN HALEN BASSIST AND RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS DRUMMER

According to Launch Radio Networks, Sammy Hagar won't be on the road much this year, besides a few gigs with his group the WABORITAS and his induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of VAN HALEN. But that's not to say that he doesn't have plans to make new music. Hagar has been performing recently at his Cabo Wabo Cantina in Mexico with former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith, and he told Launch the three of them might hit the studio together. "We're thinking about, when the CHILI PEPPERS tour is over, about doing a little record," he said. "Not a permanent thing, but we've been calling ourselves CHICKEN FOOT down here, you know? A power trio. And it's so much fun playing in a power trio, you know? I haven't done it in a long time, playing all the guitar, and, and Mike and I singing together. It's pretty strong, man, it's a pretty exciting band. So we're thinking about going in the studio, and maybe making a record."
