Rock and country will come together this spring when Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams, Jr. launch a co-headlining tour. The old friends have joined forces on what they're calling the Rowdy Frynds tour, which gets underway April 11th in Huntsville, Alabama. So far, 20 dates have been booked through the middle of June, and more will be announced in the coming weeks.
Johnny Van Zant told Radio 5FM that the relationship between Skynyrd and Hank is a special one: "Bocephus -- what can you say about him? I mean, he's one-of-a-kind, and he's a good, dear friend of ours, so we, we love and cherish that friendship."
In a statement, Hank said, "Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams, Jr. on the stage together in the same night, talk about a show! I can't wait to see what happens in these cities!" Skynyrd guitarist and founder Gary Rossington added, "We will be playing on Friday and Saturday nights to ensure all our 'Rowdy Frynds'can party with us all night long." Van Zant added, "Hank played with Skynyrd years ago and it was one heck of a show. Since then, we've been looking for the opportunity to tour together, because his fans are our fans, and vice versa."
