FORMER NIGHTWISH's TARJA TURUNEN NOMINATED FOR FINNISH 'GRAMMY'

Former NIGHTWISH singer Tarja Turunen has been nominated in the "Best Female Soloist of the Year" category at the Emma Gaala (Finnish Grammy equivalent). Also nominated in the "Soloist" category were Paula Koivuniemi, Emma Salokoski and Katri Ylander.

The awards ceremony will be held on March 10 and will be broadcast in Finland on the TV2 channel beginning at 19.50 and on YleX at 19.00.

Turunen's Christmas album, "Henkäys Ikuisuudesta" (Breath from Heaven), was recently certified platinum in Finland for sales in excess of 30,000 copies. A video interview (in Finnish, with English subtitles) with Tarja Turunen about her Christmas album can be viewed at this location.

'GET THRASHED' THRASH METAL DOCUMENTARY TRAILER AVAILABLE

A new trailer for "Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal", the much-anticipated documentary profiling the thrash metal scene of the early Eighties and its impact on the music scene, has been posted online at this location (Windows Media).

"Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal" will receive its North American premiere on Sunday, March 11 at 8:00 p.m. at the Wave in Austin, Texas as part of the 2007 Texas Rock Fest. Director Rick Ernst will be on hand to answer questions following the screening and afterwards the bands POWDERBURN, FORCE FED and COURSE OF RUIN will hit the stage.

"Get Thrashed: The Story of Thrash Metal" had its world premiere at the 2006 Raindance Film Festival in London. The documentary screened on October 3 at the CineWorld, Trocadero Centre, Piccadilly, London. Director Rick Ernst, a longtime freelance producer for MTV, was on hand at the event. DETROIT KISS EXPO NEXT MONTH

The 11th annual Detroit KISS Expo will take place on Sunday, April 1 between 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. (12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. for VIP ticket holders) at the Metropolitan Hotel (31600 Wick Road) in Romulus. Special guests include former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick and KISS tribute band WAR MACHINE. Bruce will take part in a question-and-answer session and will be available for autographs and photos.
