Helix, Brian Voller, original frontman and the only original Helix's member left conducted the interview with Canada.com about his thoughts about his old band and his up coming projects:
When he knows that his band's 1983 hit "Heavy Metal Love" will not be showcased on the soundtrack of the upcoming movie "Trailer Park Boy", he decided to do it himselft with his current Helix line-up.
Voller says "Even though you hear it in the movie, you don't get it on the movie soundtrack CD," said Vollmer. "So we went in last Friday and recorded it note for note, and it sounds almost exactly the same. And we're going to put it on our new album because that's the only place you can hear it."
He also mentions "Music from the '70s and '80s had a distinct sound to it. And that's why it's coming back. The people who grew up in the era now have disposable income,"
"Helix has always continued to put out albums, including the really lean periods," "When I think about writing music, recording music and playing music, I don't think I'd do it if I didn't love it.
"We could go to play a small club that seats just 200 people. It doesn't matter to us. That's kind of irrelevant. First of all, it's about the music. And secondly, I make a pretty good living doing this . . . it sure beats digging a ditch.".
"I feel honoured that I've been able to rub elbows with a lot of famous people in rock and roll," he says. "And I've lived the rock and roll life. And also I made a lot of friends along the way.
