IAN GALLAN'S BOOK "SMOKE THIS!"

Ian Gallan, Deep Purple frontman, has published his book "Smoke This!, The Warblings, Rants, Philosophies, and Musics from the Singer of Deep Purple".

Ian describes his book as a feast of information, pontifications, and visual representation of legendary Deep Purple vocalist Ian Gillan that takes you on a fascinating journey through the heyday of rock n' roll and lends uncensored insight into those halcyon days. With more than 200 photos documenting Ian's travels and travails, Smoke This! is a visual and educational treat for old and new Ian Gillan, Deep Purple, and rock n'roll fans alike. It's a gorgeous coffee table book splashed in color and awash in stories about Deep Purple, life on the road, songwriting, and the day to day life of a rock star. Ian also includes the lyrics to his songs including classics like Smoke on the Water, Perfect Strangers, No laughing in Heaven, Trashed and more. He talks candidly about writing and recording this music with the other members of Deep Purple and adds his own Gillanesque take on the whole bloody mess!

The book is available at Ian Gallan Book website here

TOOL NOT YET TIRED OF TOURING

Launch Radio Networks has issued the following report from Don Kaye:

TOOL is currently in the midst of a two-month European tour and will also hit Australia and New Zealand in early 2007 before returning home for another North American trek, beginning in mid-March.

Drummer Danny Carey told us that the band continues to enjoy playing around the world even when the traveling gets to them: "It gets a little more same-old, same-old, I suppose, in America now, 'cause we've made laps around the country, you know, eight or 10 times at least. It's always interesting to go places you haven't been before, and even in America that's the case. Europe is a little more of a frontier for us now, and then there are a lot of countries we haven't even been to yet where I'm hoping we're gonna hit on this tour."

No dates or cities have been revealed yet for the band's next American jaunt.

Tool continues to tour in support of its fourth studio album, 10,000 Days, which has sold 1.3 million copies since its release last May. The CD's latest single is 'The Pot'.

The group plays in Dublin, Ireland tonight (Wednesday, November 22nd).

Tool will headline the annual Big Day Out festival tour of Australia and New Zealand, which begins on January 19th. The group will be joined by THE KILLERS, MUSE, MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE and JET on the bill.

DEF LEPPARD WORKING HARD TO KEEP UP WITH JOURNEY

Online Rock Radio (www.therockradio.com) has issued the following report:

The dust is still settling from the successful tour that JOURNEY and DEF LEPPARD just finished.

The bands were together pretty much from late June until this past Sunday (November 19th), playing to sold-out crowds all across North America.

Neither band has ever been afraid to share a stage with anyone else, but Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen told us that his group had to work extra hard this time to keep up with their touring partners: "Journey really upped their game, you know, they're a great band, and then, you know, we'd have to go on after that. And, you know, if you're following 'Don't Stop Believin'', which was, like, a huge hit, and still is - you know, it's, like, one of the Top 10 downloads of last year - you (chuckles), you better be up to your game. So that just made us just raise the bar ourselves."

A rumor has been going around that Def Leppard and KISS are looking at a joint tour next year, but frontman Joe Elliott said "No, that's definitely not true", on the official defleppard.com website.
