DISTURBED LEADMAN: "I SEE OURSELVES AS BEING A THREE-DECADE SPANNING BAND"

Howie Magner of BattleCreekEnquirer.com recently conducted an interview with DISTURBED frontman David Draiman. Few excerpts are follows:

On DISTURBED 's cover of "Land of Confusion" , a song first made popular by GENESIS in the late 1980s:

"That's kind of the whole idea. It's taking a song that's absolutely nothing like us and making it our own. It's one thing to do a SABBATH cover or a MAIDEN cover, it would almost be expected. But with this, you can change it stylistically, and it becomes your own."

On the fact that die-hard heavy metal fans may not see DISTURBED as being quite heavy enough:

"We probably have too much melody going on or we're not quite as turbulent or caustic. While I really love that type of music, it's not what we try to do. If we have to place things in context, we're more hard rock than heavy metal these days."

On the band's ever-growing fan base:

"Melodies and hooks are a huge part, if not the biggest part, of our music. Whether vocally or guitar-wise, we always try to emphasize that. We want people to have the refrains of songs coming back in their head. We want people to remember and sing along."

"We're never satisfied with where we are. I see ourselves as being a three-decade spanning band. We have the drive and desire. It's a question of us being able to continue writing great records."

NIKKI SIXX "THIS HAS BEEN A STRESSFUL YEAR"

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx has posted his latest "Graveyard Of My Mind" diary entry:

"So I'm sitting in another hotel room in another city missing deeply what I've worked so hard for. The kids are all home having Thanksgiving and I'm still on tour.

This is the 2nd Thanksgiving in a row away from home. The end of the tour is almost here and room service (a cold turkey sandwich is almost here too).

There is no plans to do anything at this point and that's find by me, 'cause I'm burnt out and as grateful as I am, I'm ready to go home and stay home. This has been a stressful year and I can't wait for the ball to drop on 2006 and welcome 2007 in.

Now the good news... Where I came from his is just heaven, but even heaven has it's thorns and razor blades and my crown's no different. Fatigue makes everything hurt and a few weeks of sleep and I'll be back to my old self.

More good news... We've raised a lot of money this year for Covenant House and Running Wild In The Night and that warms my heart. I hope it does you to.

Thanks for giving and Thanksgiving.

All my love and passion,

N.S."

SHAWN DROVER UPDATING MEGADETH NEW ALBUM "THINGS ARE PROGRESSING IN A NATURAL AND TIMELY FASHION"

Shawn Drover, Megadeth drummer has posted the following message:

"I am heading off to California this weekend to join the 'others' in the studio, and the finishings of the new MEGADETH record. Glen [ Drover , guitar] is already there as I write this, and from what he has expressed to me, things are progessing in a natural and timely fashion as well as the overall vibe being positive — something I plan on chiming in on myself upon arrival. Futhermore, I am looking forward to working with [producer] Andy Sneap [who is mixing the new MEGADETH album. I am, of course, very familiar with his past work, so this should prove to be a cool experience."
